The Nature Nook
A
poison dart frog display;
Featuring a
representation of their natural environment, an actual dart
//blow gun like those used by the indigenous South American
tribes to hunt small game along with factoids and photos and
live dart frogs - either P. terriblis or P. bicolor -in the
wild these two species represent two of the deadliest frogs
(animals for that matter!) in the world!
-(The frogs on display will be captive bred and subsequently
non-toxic
-their toxins come from specific species of ants found only
in South America), so the ones on display are definitely not
dangerous but still always get attention!
-Chocoan
Monkey frogs 'on a stick' - you have to see them to
appreciate them...the only true desert frogs in
the world -very cool always draw attention.
-A
giant (20" ) snapping turtle -purely for viewing
pleasure. Looking at a big old snapping turtle up close and
personal (in a secured glass tank) is always a crowd
pleaser.
-A baby
veminoid rattlesnake. The poison glands are surgically
removed from the snake rendering it harmless. BUT NONE
THE LESS IT WOULD BE IN A SECURED LOCKED CAGE!
-'Pig' -an
African leopard tortoise -Pig is a very social, out going
tortoise that is very safe and seems to enjoy human
interaction. She's not that big, about 25 lb., 18 inches
long. but she always attracts attention and loves to be hand
fed.
